How does the technology loan program work?

Current Skyline College students are eligible. Visit the library front desk to borrow technology items you need for class. See details and options below.

Step 1: Determine eligibility & Verify availability

Determine eligibility

Any current Skyline College student is eligible to borrow technology from Skyline Library.

  • Bring photo id to verify your identity (for example: student id, state issued id or driver's license, passport)
  • Bring your G number and proof of enrollment: Your enrollment status will be checked at the time of your technology loan
  • A current Skyline College technology loan user agreement must be on file at the Library (you can complete this form in advance or at the time of your technology loan)

Verify availability

Contact the library in-person, by phone (650-738-4311), or by chat to verify availability of specific technology items. Calculators, Chromebooks, and hotspots will be loaned to eligible students while supplies last. Other specialty technology items for specific classes may be available on a case by case basis--be sure to check in with library staff as availability is limited.

No advance reservations are required while supplies last. Visit the library during our open in-person hours and take home the item you need in one stop.

What if the technology item I need is unavailable?

If the technology item you need is not available (out of stock), place a request to be added to the waitlist queue and monitor your request status on your library OneSearch account. You will be notified on your school email account when the item is ready to be picked up.

An online request and waitlist queue option may be added later in the semester for high demand technology items, as needed. Monitor this web page for additional details once the semester is underway.

Step 2: Borrow technology items at the Library

Visit the library in person to borrow technology you need--no need to fill out a request form or set an appointment. Technology loans are managed on site by the library team.

Available technology may be borrowed from the library front desk during our in-person open hours.

  • You will receive a loan receipt in your school email account
  • You can monitor your loan status and due dates of your items by signing in to your OneSearch account
  • Contact the library with any questions about your loans

If you are on a waitlist, you will receive an email notification when the item is available for pick up. Items must be picked up within 5 days or they will be given to the next person in the queue.

Please refer to the district guidelines for returning to campus for masking and vaccination requirements.

Step 3: Return it by the due date

Return your technology items at any campus library location that is convenient for you during in-person library service hours.

All borrowed technology items must be returned on or before the due date. Check your loan receipt or Library OneSearch account for details about your due date. A lost item replacement fee may be charged for any unreturned items.
